As a student who study science programme, The major subject that I would like to choice is
Applied Biology. The major reasons for me to choice this subject as major include my
interest ,my parent's expectation and optimistic work prospect in future .
Firstly, I want to study Applied Biology which is a
subject involves studying of human beings and natural environment in future because I have great
interest in it .When I studied in secondary school , I always asked my science teachers
about human systems .For example, I asked them that how could we move , where
were the food which we ate went to , why did we needed to sleep …etc. All these
question I asked can show how much I love to study human beings. Moreover, the television
programme that I like the most is Natural Geographic which shows many
natural phenomenon happened around us .For example, it shows us what is carbon cycle , what is
mutation and how the organism interact with one another. This can show that I
am a person who has great interest about environment. In conclusion , I am a person who interested in
studying human beings and natural environment which involve in biology, so I
think that I will interested in studying Applied Biology.
Secondly, my uncle’s experience is
one of the greatest motions which forcing me want to study Applied Biology.
When I was nine years old , my uncle lost the ability to walk in an industrial
accident .He needs to sit on rolling chair for moving and can’t find the job
from that time until now. My parents and me want to help him .But even we have
money, there is no way to help him getting back the ability of walking . If I
can study Applied Biology which involves the study of biotechnology in the
future , I may be can discover some new technologies to help him. For example ,
some scientists are doing some researches about the artificial muscle which may be can able to use in human
.These kinds of researches are the only way to help my uncle to get back his
walking ability . As a result , this become my life target of being a scientist
who studies biotechnology. The pre-existing condition for me to become this kind of scientist is
studying Applied Biology .This is a major reason why I want to study Applied Biology.
Thirdly , studying Applied Biology
has a more optimistic job prospect in the future than studying other majors of
science. For example , studying Applied Physic can only be a teacher but not an
engineer in the future because it doesn’t get the recognition of engineering association
in Hong Kong. Studying Surveying can only be a surveyor in the future but no
other jobs because Surveying involve the studying of very specific and professional
knowledge which only able to use in Surveying. In contrasting , Applied Biology
involves the studying of broad knowledge like biotechnology , natural
environment , human being and biomedical science etc. I will have the quality
of being a secondary teacher, universities professor , scientist and environmentalist…
etc in the future if I study Applied Biology . Moreover , I can become a physiotherapist
or radiographist in the future if I continue to take some specific master courses
after studying Applied Biology . In conclusion, it seems like that studying
Applied Biology is the best decision among studying various majors in science
in terms of future job prospect . This is also one of my major reasons of
wanting to study Applied Biology in the future .
After considering my interest , my parent’s
expectation and future job prospect , studying Applied Biology must be my first
priority among various majors in science .After studying this subject, I hope
that I can help my uncle, the people in society who have needs and increase the
living standard of all of us.
