Hong Kong people are too fat!

David , who is a ninety-eight kilogram white collar man , had a stroke .According to the medical report , his aorta is blocked in a large part by cholesterol .Therefore, the oxygen which is carried by blood can’t transfer from his heart to brain and therefore causes a stroke. From now on, he even can’t speak clearly, let alone walk. However , he is not alone. In fact , there are more than ten thousand people who have a stroke due to obesity per year in Hong Kong.

According to World Health Organization(2013), “obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. A crude population measure of obesity is the body mass index (BMI), a person’s weight (in kilograms) divided by the square of his or her height (in metres). A person with a BMI of 30 or more is generally considered obese. With this definition, The Hong Kong Department of Health made a statistic in 2013. It shows that there are around 1.4 million of citizens who are classified as obese in Hong Kong. It means that there is one obese in five Hong Kong citizens. Moreover, the department has done a research about the trends of obesity rate in Hong Kong since 1995. It shows that the obesity rate increases from 7% to 19% which is more than a double over these 19 years . Certainly, obesity is a serious problem in Hong Kong which is getting more and more serious. What’s more, obesity is associated with many chronic diseases …

Firstly, obesity may leads to several cardiovascular diseases .According to the researches did by the scientists of American Heart Association (2013) , obese have much more cholesterol in their blood .The cholesterol is sticky and will easily stick on the inner wall on the blood vessels .As the diameter of these blocked blood vessels become more and more narrow , it becomes more and more difficult for the blood to pass through the vessels .As a result , the blood will accumulate in these vessels which brings about high blood pressure .High blood pressure will result in many cardiac complications , such as heart failure , coronary heart disease and stroke etc.

Secondly , obesity may gives rise to acquired diabetes and several cancers .Dr David W.Haslam (2005) , who is a famous doctor in United Kingdom , proves that obesity will increase the risk of pancreas failure where the pancreas no longer can produce enough insulin to convert the sugar into fat .This is called acquired diabetes. Moreover , Dr David proves that obesity will lead to increase in metabolic rate which speeds up the rate of cell division .As higher rate of cell division will result in high risk of cell mutation , the risk of forming cancer cells will also increase .Even worse , most of the cancers are untreatable.

Thirdly, obesity may results in infertility from both male and female. According to the researches did by the scientists of The Ottawa Hospital in United Kingdom (2008) , women who are classified obese are less likely to become pregnant than the normal women .On another hand, the quality of sperms of men who are classified as obese are usually lower than that of normal men .Therefore, the men who are classified as obese have a high risk of infertility .

In conclusion ,obesity may lead to many terrible chronic diseases. Even worse , a research did by the Department of Health in Hong Kong shows that the BMI and risk of death have positive relationship .It means that more fat a person is , a high chance for him to death due to obesity related diseases.

As we now know that obesity will lead to many serious health problem , the obeses should take action to reduce their fat rate as fast as they can instead of ignoring this problem .In these recent centuries , there are three common ways of keeping fit which are taking Weight Loss Drugs , doing Gastric Bypass Surgery and eating nutrition products together with doing regular exercises. Unfortunately, every way has its own disadvantage…

Consider the way of taking Weight Loss Drugs which are usually the chemical that can increase people metabolic rate to help burning fat and reduce the appetite of users so that reduce their input of fat , it is the fastest way to reduce weight among the three ways .However , taking Weight Loss Drugs has many side effects , like users may get depressed and refuse to eat(Anorexia norvesa) which results in malnutrition. Moreover, after the users stop taking these drugs , most of them will get increasing in their weight again and even may get heavier than their original weight before taking these drugs.

Consider the method of doing Gastric Bypass Surgery which reduces the capacity of patients’ stomach that lead to faster sense of fullness when having meals . It can effectively reduce the amount of food ate by people , so reduce their weight .Although it is a fast and permanent way for keeping fit , there is very high risk of get infection of internal organs , especially stomach according to a research did by Professor Lars Sjöström , a senior professor in University of Gothenbrug.

Last but not least , consider the way of eating nutrition products together with doing regular exercises which a new idea introduced by Michael O Johnson , the chief executive officer of Herbalife, a famous health product international company. The principle of this idea is reducing the intake of carbohydrate and fat ,which are the components of food that give rise to obesity, but absorbing suitable amount of protein, vitamin and minerals ,which are the components of food that maintain the function of cells .When it combines with doing regular exercises which help burning fat naturally and quickly , this can help people to keep fit more safety and efficiency. Moreover, according to the researches(2012) did by scientists in American College of Sports Medicine , doing regular exercise can reduce the risk of getting chronic diseases associated with obesity by strength our cardiovascular system .It can also improve your mood and promote better sleep. Some people may argue that taking the nutrition products of Herbalife has the similar side effects of taking Weight Loss Drugs . This claim is unreasonable due to two reasons. First, all the nutrition products of Herbalife are recommended and proved to be safe by many powerful scientists and doctors. For examples, Dr David Heber, who included in “The Best Doctors in America” and “Who’s Who in America”. Dr Louis Ignarro, who is rewarded with the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1998 for his discovery of nitric oxide .Second, according to the feedbacks collected by Herbalife , there are more than 50 millions of product users in the world show great satisfaction about the effect of losing weight after using nutrition products .More important, all of them say that they don’t get any serious side effect of health due to using the nutrition products. Although this new method of keeping fit is safety and efficiency , there is one disadvantage of this method it is the slowest way of keeping fit among the three methods.

In conclusion, since the safety of these ways is in the highest priority of consideration, it is believed that the idea of eating nutrition products together with doing regular exercises is the best way of keeping fit among these methods .

Hong Kong people are too fat! For your health, If you are one of the obeses , you should use a safety way to keep fit immediately .
